Condolence From: Bernice (Glew) Whalen
Condolence: Deepest sympathy to the family as Helen was one classy lady in my books. Her smile was contagious to those in her midst. Fond memories date back to those bingo gatherings supporting the charities of the Knights of Columbus and the Daughters of Isabella. The Wed. evening gatherings were ones that we all looked forward to sharing. it was there that Helen spoke with pride about the family. Helen will certainly be midst as she was special.

Condolence: Brian,Paula, Larry, Michael and families,
Our deepest condolences for your loss. We should be so lucky to live such a long life. I will always remember Aunt Helen's mischievous twinkle when she smiled, her happy demeanor and personality, and.... her fabulous, melt-in-your-mouth butter tarts. I still remember the lovely surprise wedding shower for me held at your Mom's in 1972. Paula, you were her advocate and caregiver as she entered her last and most difficult years, to be there for her to give her comfort and peace of mind. May your memories comfort you and sustain you through your grief and in the months ahead. Our love and affection, Judy Cerra and Clarence Dungey

Condolence: To my Dearest and Sweetest Aunt Helen
For those of you who do not believe that Angels exist and are sent from Heaven, well, you have never met my Tante.
She was sent from heaven on November 26, 1923 to protect and love who she came in contact with in her 92 young years.
Nothing ever seem to affect my Tante. As I grew up over the years I have so many affectionate lasting memories.
I will share with whom wish to read. As I share my memories, they will begin in my adolescences, teens, and old ages.
In my adolescence I clearly recall visiting my Tante over the Christmas/New Years holidays, sitting in the ticket booth at the Soo Gardens keeping her company, Tante introducing me to a very young Wayne Gretsky, and I was very excited to see him play hockey that eve. Making the visits to the Cerra’s, Sullivan’s and Donnelly either at Christmas or New Years, being woken up at 2am in the morning with laughter coming from the North Street kitchen as families and friends partied into the wee hours. Christmas and New Years eve parties at the Kings of Columbus Hall.
As a teen, afternoon beverages in the backyard on North Street listening to all the stories of you and your sister growing up in Sudbury, meeting Uncle Bert, hearing about Bert’s brother and wife Earl and Arlene, acting in the War that effected so many Canadians (she was never comfortable talking about), but just seemed to be water off a duck’s back to my Tante. Both families traveling with campers out west and down east on multiple camping excursions, camping in Sudbury for family reunions with her sister and cousins, camping at Remi Lake and visiting more family in Kapuskasing both sisters lost contact with. Having to deal with travel trailer rolling over coming home from Pembroke, partying with friends and family gathered at the North Street estate when my parents came to town, campfires and singing in the back yard.
As I got older, it never seemed Tante looked or acted any older. I had more great times at parties on the patio in Arizona, my cousins planning a surprise visit to Arizona and rained every day (it never rains in Arizona), anniversary gatherings in the Soo and Orillia, multitude of family weddings, christenings and funerals
As a married old man, always remembering whoever Tante came in contact with, always left a lasting impression. My Tante was the best cook/baker, always having an endless supply or tarts, pies and cookies in that jar that sat in the lower kitchen cabinet. On one occasion I called my Tante so she could pass along to my wife how to make her famous raisin pie. After my Uncle passed away, one winter Tante went alone to Arizona to spend over a month with her sister, my mom. The daily calls I would receive with the pair of them giggling and laughing in the background, always making sure Tante received her Brandy.
I know it was one of my mother’s highlights of her life. For years after Tante visited, the Mesa Regal neighbours would always ask if the “Silver Fox” was coming back to Arizona for a visit. It was just the impact she had.
And to Paula, my favourite cousin, you have certainly earned your wings. The only child left in the Soo, taking care of both parents in their senior years. You managed flawlessly Tante’s move from the North St. estate to the nursing home. Most recently single handily took full control over Tante leg surgery without missing a beat. No one could have handled the many situations’ better than you. I thank you for overseeing the ultimate of care for my Tante.
All these memories are embedded in my mind, I say I love you and so glad you were part of my and family life. Good bye Tante.
