Peacefully surrounded by his family at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday March 25, 2018, just shy of his 72nd birthday. Devoted Husband of Simone. Loving father of Travis (Brenda), Andrea (Jim) and Miriam (Michael). Papa of Rebeka, Alexis and Brittany. Great Papa of Leigha. Predeceased by his parents Monique and Peter Valois. Brother of Rose Marie and predeceased by his siblings, Desneiges, Juliette, George and Jean-Louis. Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Fern was an accomplished electronic engineer and an avid musician. Throughout his journey in life, he established many long lasting relationships with a multitude of wonderful people he was proud to call his friends. His wry sense of humour and his “Fern calls” will be forever missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Ghosh, Marie-Eve and the rest of his care providers at the Sault Area Hospital’s ICU unit, Brittany and the rest of his home care nurses at Bayshore and the patient staff at the Algoma District Cancer Program. Family and friends are invited to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre (215 St. James St) for visitation and a come and go celebration, on Fern’s birthday, Thursday April 5, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Wheels of Hope program.
