Laurence Arthur Joseph Simard
Passed away peacefully at the age of 82, at the Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Friday January 12, 2018. Loving husband and best friend of Donna. Beloved father of Marie Laure (Ian) and Raymonde Magli (Donny). Adored grampa of Hanna, Colton and Lily. Predeceased by his loving parents Arthur and Gertrude Simard. Dear brother of Harold (Doreen). Greatly loved son-in-law of the late Ray and Connie Mattioli. Caring brother-in-law to the late Carla (Tom), Randy (Janice), Janice, Roger, and Debra Mattioli. Laurie will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Laurie always had a smile on his face and a kind word to everyone he met. His sense of humor and his love of jokes will be missed by many. Family and friends are invited to call at O’Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Centre on Monday January 15, 2018 from 11:00am-1:00pm. A Funeral Mass will follow at Precious Blood Cathedral at 1:30pm with Rev. Kumar Kanagara officiating. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Kathy Palombi and Jennifer Henderson, as well as the nurses and doctors of the Sault Area Hospital Emergency Department for the care given to Laurie in his final hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Algoma Autism Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
