Composer, conductor, music educator, died peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday October 19, 2017 in his 87th year. Loving husband of Veronica (nee Botai). Father of Andrew (Cynthia), Mary (John) Musson and Richard. Grandpa of Olivia, Caitlyn and Elizabeth. Predeceased by his parents Lajos and Maria Bornyi. Brother of the late Gyula (late Anna) of Hungary and uncle to Gabor and Gabriella. Brother-in-law of Eva Wolfl (late Joszef) and loving uncle to Judith and Katalin. Lajos studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, prior to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Upon arriving in Canada, Lajos further is education at the University of Toronto and Yale University. Achievements include performing with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony and CBC Studios, eventually Artistic Director of the Sault Symphony Orchestra. Lajos was an educator with the Sault Board of Education and provided additional music instruction at his private studio. Family and friends are invited to call at O'Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre (215 St. James Street) on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at Precious Blood Cathedral on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at 11:00am with Father Hamish Currie officiating. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Sault Area Hospital for the care given to Lajos. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Precious Blood “The Journey” and would be appreciated by the family.
