Obituary for John Bryan Scarratt

Born April 27, 1935 in Kettering England, it is with great sadness that we announce that John passed away peacefully after a stroke on May 25, 2017, in Sault Ste. Marie. John is survived by Maureen, his loving Wife of 53 years. He was the proud father of Rhiannon and Martin (Stephanie). Grandpa to Avery and Carter. He will be missed by his grand-cat and computer pal, Glyn. He will be remembered and missed by his brother Peter (Irene), nephew Mark and niece Haley (England), many cousins and his bother in-law Ted Huws and a large extended family in Wales. John will be also missed by many friends and colleagues.

John served as a medic in Egypt and Cyprus with the Royal Air Force (1954-1956) and worked in Tanganyika and Kilimanjaro from 1959-1962. He received his PhD. in civil culture from Bangor University in Wales where he also met Maureen. John and Maureen moved to Sault Ste. Marie, in 1967, where John was a long-time employee at Great Lakes Forestry.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held in later in the summer. Memorial donations to ARCH, Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Leprosy Mission of Canada would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the SAH Emergency Room staff, the nurses on 3C, ARCH, friends and neighbours for all their care and compassion.
