Condolences

Condolence From: Kitty Cashman
Condolence: Deepest condolences. Vicki was my dental hygiene patient for over 30 years. She was a wonderful person. I'll miss her laugh and smile.

Condolence: I knew Vikki primarily as she cared for my mother at the Meighen Residence. She shared good books with her, good conversation, and spiritual things. Vikki was good at what she did and was able through her rich and varied medical experience, to sum up each patient and their needs very well. Her life counted. Sharing this poem in love.

"I am told that just before dawn, there is a moment when it is neither dawn nor night. It is a blink after the dark, and a flash before the light.

It is a promise of life held in an instant; moving but not yet ours to see; suspended between what was, and what is yet to be.

We exist in this holy interregnum, for the old is past and behold a new day, but not yet. Not yet. In this moment between movements, we strain and ache for the promised joy that comes with the morning.

Here, the Word whispers softly, disturbing our sleep so that we might awaken in the embrace of the son, whose life is the light that illuminates the world.

This is the moment when all is quiet before creation sings. A stillness heard so deeply it is barely heard at all. It is the advent of eternity. The silence between notes." Trygve David Johnson

Condolence: I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to Vicki's family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us,"... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28,"...all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our hope. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as,"... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.

Condolence: I was one of Vicki's fellow nurses at Meighen retirement Home. How grateful I was that Vicki gave me the opportunity of returning to direct nursing care after many years in administration. And she encouraged me, mentored me, allowed me to learn and to grow. She was a good nursing leader, knowledgable, and deeply caring for the wellbeing of the residents AND her staff. She set, and required of us, the highest standards of care. Thank you Vicki, for your leadership, your influence, and for all you did for your residents, and for us, during those years at MMR. You will be remembered with our love and our deep respect. My heart goes out to your brother and all your family at this time of sadness and loss. You often spoke so caringly about them. May God's love and presence bring comfort, and peace to their hearts, now and in the days ahead.

Condolence: Our condolences to family and friends of Vicki's. We are very saddened at this loss and grieve with you. We would see each other frequently in the PharmaPlus or somewhere along the strip mall close to her condo. Laughter abounded as we recalled stories from SJD, catching the bus for school, and fun times that we shared on McGregor Ave in the Sault. She was a compassionate care giver who worked tirelessly to give others the breath of light and hope. She was singular in helping us bring our mother to a peaceful and caring environment in Toronto, and to make it a real home for her. Vicki was a crusader for excellence in institutional care.
Thank you Vicki. You gave life and love to many. Our family will never forget you. Never.
Love and hugs to all

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of the loss of Vickie. Many years ago she was a high school classmate and I remember her smile and her friendly laughter. It is a big loss to her family.

Condolence From: Geraldine Watson
Condolence: I am a nurse who worked for Vicki at the Meighen. Vicki carried an inhumanly heavy workload; I don't think she ever did one thing at a time the whole time I knew her -- there was never time for that. And everything got done. Her standard was sky-high; it was wonderful to work for someone who expected so much of us. It wasn't easy, but ultimately Vicki brought out the very best in us, and I am grateful for the example she set. You really can't give anyone a better gift than a good example, and Vicki gave that gift over and over. She accepted nothing less than the best from us, and it sent a pattern within us from which we can only benefit. The other thing about Vicki was that she did so many acts of kindness in secret. Her tender, generous heart was never on public display, and it was never inactive either; she left an Easter egg trail of truly good deeds behind her, all done quietly. And then she died quietly. What a terrible loss.
The rainbow comes and goes,
And lovely is the rose;
The moon doth with delight
Look round her when the heavens are bare;
Waters on a starry night
Are beautiful and fair;
The sunshine is a glorious birth;
But yet I know, where'er I go,
That there hath pass'd away a glory from the earth.
